If your books taught you how to find undervalued stocks that the crowd doesn't know about then great books.
Sure, you can pick a stock at low prices and sit on it for years until the crowd discovers your secret but you have to ask if the wait was worth it.
I've read share trading books by Daryl Guppy. In one I recall his analogy of share trading compared to herding cattle.
As most of us aren't good stock men we get to ride on the side of the herd. When the herd starts stampeding we don't know what caused the herd to stampede and we can't see what may stop the herd. We go along for the ride all the same.
