My continuing concern with consolidations (particularly in Australia, it seems), is that as soon as a company consolidates it shares on issue, the shorters pounce and deliberately attempt to drive down the price - Australian investors don't seem to understand the fundamentals of investment, they panic, and sell their newly-consolidated holdings, losing their gains and playing right into the hands of the shorting vultures. Those who are clever enough to play the short game, are usually also clever enough to pursue the capital growth strategy at the same time, and have either developed or maintain a tried-and-tested options strategy to cover all circumstances.
I hate shorters.....
