The Arrowsmith North Silica Sand Project was assessed to be a Controlled Action, due to possible significant impacts to a Matter of National Environmental Significance. The Delegate deemed that the assessment approach most suitable would be an Accredited Assessment under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. The Accredited approach allows the relevant state and federal processes to be completed simultaneously under one agency to minimise duplication. The Arrowsmith North Silica Sand Project is being assessed by the West Australian Environmental Protection Authority (WA EPA) under the Environmental Protection Act 1986. As they are the lead agency it would be most appropriate for you to direct question regarding the project and its timelines with them.
