I'd much rather a production fab qualification gets it right than have the alternative of not even getting off the lab bench due to too much variability. We want the situation where a chip designer can just drag and drop our memory onto their eCAD designs and know it will work well when produced the first time.
Good production qualification will do that for us and if it takes some time so be it.
