The problem is that we never got a full picture from any of those media releases - just snippets that lead to more questions. Nobody ever got a clear answer. You can choose to believe its all made up if you wish but in the end does it really matter if ConocoPhillips didn't meet their contractual obligations and simply got away with it? You don't need to withdraw PE if it simply expires. The FAR MD did travel to the Houston offices of Connoco Phillips to raise an objection before the 30 day window expired and Peter Cole did make a comment that you can't PE a company which does suggest he believed the offer should not have been made. It all ties in.
But so what if in the end Connoco stuffed up the contract and nothing came of it in arbitration?
