This has been explained on another thread ..the dividend has to be paid out of the reserve of cash in the BHP oil/gas division to BHP shareholders in specie.We will also get shares in WPL as a ratio of 48% . BHP will also receive WPL shares methinks so I dont know how that affects the 48% ratio.
AS the merger date is the 1st July 2021 how does that affect shareholders of BHP who have bought BHP since then ?
