If there are any changes to the gun laws in Aus then it needs to be made on evidence backed statistics as it should be for any law changes in any area. The recent senate enquiry chaired by Greens Penny Wright (anti gunner) fell flat on its face as there is no credible evidence that lawful gun owners or guns owned by licenced shooters where involved in crime by any reasonable degree in fact these guns represented 0.06 % of guns used in crimes.
Obviously the problem of gun crime lies somewhere else.
I love guns and bows. I hunt and compete with both. Its a great technical sport for young and old. I think our gun laws are satisfactory. They certainly shouldn't get tighter but I believe could be relaxed somewhat. EG we should be able to use suppressors for ear protection and the mandatory reason for owning a firearm should be reviewed.
