I'm so sick of this whole saga. Drawing it out is achieving nothing. Obviously, for domestic political reasons, the Indonesian President is not going to change his stance. The extended time "to allow the two to spend more time with their families" is probably a token gesture of response to the impassioned pleas by members of the Australian government who seem far more concerned about these two drug traffickers than they have ever demonstrated on behalf of victims of terrorism, rape, murder etc right here in Australia.

Let Indonesia have their own laws and let us mind our own business. Already Mr Abbott's silly implied linking of Indonesian aid to the current situation has greatly annoyed the Indonesians. There should be no connection. We should surely always offer help in situations such as the tsunami and to insinuate that such aid in future will be compromised if Indonesia does not let the traffickers live is yet another 'foot in mouth' moment from Mr Abbott imo.
Completely unhelpful from any point of view.
