There are many differences nowdays --------- I doubt if a mix of cultures is a big deal -

what is moreso, IMO - is that our culture now is one of self, not just before country - but, with no thought to country, nation, fellow citizens at all

Here's something perhaps to reflect on ------------ Author S Crisp

It is all very well to talk of loyalty, lip-loyalty is cheap. This expedition is the test we require of loyalty, and by that test we are prepared to stand. Small indeed, few indeed we may be, but we are possessed of that glorious fighting instinct & adventure handed down by our loved "Home" forebears. We are not so small, so poor, so few as to be indifferent to all that doth become a man & to be able to do it, for we shall be measured, not only in our self-respect but also in all fair minds by how we do our best with the means that are given to us. It is the light of this spirit shining in the faces of 1500 soldiers and sailors on board HMAS "Berrima" the first armoured troopship produced by Australia that gives one an extra heartbeat as he watches them at work or at play. You see it in the loyal support given by one rank to another, from the trumpeter to the Brigadier, in the excellent work by the Tingarra boys to load our ship, and by those great-hearted noble women of the Red Cross who sat up night and day driving sewing machines to provide comforts for the men who were the first to volunteer & came to do work & see action and do for our Mother Australia what Australia is doing for her Mother, quietly, unostentatiously & in a businesslike manner. If we do this, come what may, no noble or generous mind will despise our efforts."
