Water flowed to surface because it was under high pressure, the well was shut in, the aquifer was cased off, drilling mud weight adjusted, water bearing unit isolated and safe, drilling recommenced. All part of normal drilling and would have been anticipated, given the geological profile provided in anns prior to drilling commencement.
This sort of stuff happens all the time with drilling, the response actions were industry standard, nothing to see here. Bring on the brine!
