Here is a list of Life Expectancy by Country as detailed by the Daily Mail UK on 28 November 2013. The link is here:

The interesting statistics are that Japan is ranked 3rd, Australia 9th, France 14th and the good old UK 30th. The USA is 51. Another list published by the World Health Organisation as at 2011 and listed here:

states that Australian men live longer than both men in Japan and France whilst Australian women live slighlty less than both of these countries.
So perhaps Australians are healthier by world standards than what we are led believe.
