when I was young and about to start a family 80's 90's as well as most of the people we associated with held a full time job and a part time job
in addition doing occasional frequent weekend work fencing, gardening, painting, rubbish removal or worked at the local service station etc
we had to in order to cope with a 15+% interest rate home loan back then the average hourly rate was $11.00 p/h
No time for play station, Xbox, Nintendo's, iTunes, lap tops, Uber, iPads, tablets,Nike shoes, Netflix's, restaurants, coffee shops, interstate trips, new cars , aircon, ducted heating, etc....
Don't get me wrong most homes back then has a space heater we're the family would congregate socialise and keep warm. We had our entertainment but it was free or minimal expense , we visited each other dwellings , we partied but made our own food preparation, the radio or records, cd's, we learnt to socialise and create our entertainment through social interactions, when one had saved enough to add a carport or garage or landscape etc.. we would make it a social function and gather to help build it.
It was a time we're we did things rather than expect thing to be done for us.
I'm tired of listening to the how unlucky the current generation is rather than waiting for things to be given to you get out there and actually make things happen.
you may be surprised how good it feels to see what you can achieve
I'm note suggesting you will create an empire but I am saying you will create your own space and possibly have joy in the process
it has its up and downs but that's the same for everyone
