Freedman compares gay and lesbian people to paedophiles

MIA Freedman has been slammed for comparing gay people to paedophiles during a segment on The Project last night.
While speaking about the idea of a national paedophile register, the former magazine editor and commentator said she supported the idea, drawing a link between paedophilia and homosexuality.
“We accept that gay people can’t change who they love and they’re sexually attracted to”, she said on the live program, “so why do we think that people who are sexually attracted to children can be rehabilitated?
“Name and shame them. I want to know where they are.”
The backlash was instant, with Twitter users labelling her comments as “offensive” and “disappointing”.

I can't see what is actually wrong with what she said, but it didn't sound nice so she is vilified.

All Mia was saying was that the same ways that Gay/Lesbian/Trans etc have a sexual orientation against the normal that can't be changed...then why would one expect a paedophile to be persuaded ( 'rehabilitated' ) to change their ways. She was in no way being derogatory towards GLT for their sexual orientation by suggesting they are perverted...or worse...suspects of paedophilia. She has nothing to apologise for. More typical political correct back lash by people who can't accept that people have the right to use words without always thinking below the belt. It says more about the people who complain.
