I am bearish at the moment and have been for the last 12 months or so. While the US economy is stronger the market seems a bit "frothy". The Australian economy will likely remain flat for a few years as Governments have little notion how to support the transition of the economy. Hence there is a real need for lower risk alternatives to shares that give a higher return than TD. Sophisticated tools such as cfd, options are worth considering but are higher risk and beyond my expertise at the moment. REITs are possible but selecting the most appropriate is difficult. The average advisor is, I think just as much at sea so is no help.

I am interested in sharing SMSF strategies and ideasI have also considered closing my fund and rolling it back into a good performing industry fund. Making money was easy in the good times; its going to be a lot tougher in the next few years.

have you looked at bonds? Have you been to any presentations by FIIG?

I'm considering taking out a few Vanguard index funds rather than the mixed bag of direct stocks, hybrids, bonds, it would probably help focus on my golf game which is in need of attention
