Cory Bernardi opens door to returning to the Liberal Party
Australian Conservatives leader Cory Bernardi has opened the door to returning to the Liberal Party, a move which could give Scott Morrison a 36th senator.
Senator Bernardi defected from the government in early 2017 to form his own party because of his disagreements with then-leader Malcolm Turnbull, but his party has not succeeded in absorbing centre and hard right votes since.
Today, he told Chris Kenny on Sky News’ The Kenny Report he was open to a conversation with the Prime Minister and said his main goal in this term of parliament was to help the government’s agenda.
