A41, the USD isn't that strong yet. Sure its moved sharply in the last three months, however most currencies are still at historically high levels against the USD. The US also imports a lot less oil than it used to so this helps offset losses in exports to some extent.
A strong USD will hurt corporate profits, especially those profits made offshore & reported back to a US based company such as Apple etc. The US's biggest export is its services & technology including bio-tech. So I agree a stronger dollar will hurt the US economy but I think would need to rise substantially higher than the current level to really start hurting. We will see it impact corporate earnings though & ergo US equity valuations.
