Your hypothesis presumes that the holders are all asleep at the wheel. Short sellers are already closing out their positions in an orderly fashion and the change on 19 September will be uneventful. The counterpoint is the selling into an unenthusiastic market. Zip wiill more likely end up with a far greater presence of small retail holders who might see a 'bargain'. in the inevitable fallen price.
