That is shocking for the Government and shocking for all who are in any sense united against the Labor-Left-Green Front.
Though plainly not Barnaby Joyce's fault, it is now confirmed by NZ that BJ is an NZ citizen not by birth or any other act but by descent.
BJ clearly never had any idea that he was anything but an Australian citizen.
We must remember too that our nations are so close in every way that BJ's father would have been born a British subject as Australians were until around the period of the 1960's. That makes the matter more complex still.
It is not BJ's fault in any way and the truth is it is rather labyrinthine.
However, in terms of the Constitution it would appear now that BJ was not constitutionally elected and now may not hold his seat.
That is a great blow for the Government and for Australia.
