Got home earlier this evening to find the top of a large tree across one of up our decks, just missing the house but taking out a set of steps and about half the deck railing.
The storm also blew out a quad-fold sliding glass door to a first story lounge room, ripping the slide guides from the top and bending the ones on the bottom, and allowing rain to drive up to 1m inside and damage polished floor boards and possibly then cause ceiling water damage to the room below.
Looks like maybe a lightening strike blew the top off the tree. I just read that a man was injured by a lightening strike to a yacht nearby during the same storm
This is the 3rd mini cyclone in our locale in the past 18 months, but the first to cause damage.
Insurance assessors and restorers start arriving tomorrow.
Sigh, right before Xmas and it's our turn to host da family!
