Contemplating a bit of painting around the house saw me lining up at the self-checkout registers at Bunnings yesterday with 3 sample pots. I had asked at the paint counter how much they coast. $8.50. OK. Scanned items. 2 came up @8.50 and 1 @12.90. Bunning's minder lady noticed my confusion and came to my rescue. She looked at the paint colours and calmly informed me that Bunning's charge more for popular colours. She was quite unconcerned about what I call blatantly ripping people off. What? Since when? She specifically mentioned the many colours that cover the white palette. Not sure if it's just for sample pots but I guess they see it as an opportunity to maximise profits. Are they that desperate? Their market share is overwhelming so I guess might is right. Obviously not concerned about repeat customers.
