I think your ideas on quick and dirty are really good in this situation - what I have found is that with 'my' style of country living - threats come in bursts - then, nothing for years.
when conditions change - you change - clearly Taurisk's conditions have changed - temporarily - the coppers probably know a bit - I would do some quick changes and have a bloody good chat to them.
We must remember that this is a woman living alone - doesn't mean that she can't be safe - but, IMO - it has to be passive mainly- and at a guess - within a budget.
and, no bloody 240 soldering
