not really the point KP, whether they use it or not, but they put rifling into a gun barrel for a reason
so the "essential question" for today is e.g. - "why does a spinning bullet travel further and straighter"
rather than "The benefits of gun rifling"
if you read out the second statement to anyone who doesn't know what "Rifling" is, it would just be confusing and to everyone else, well, they knew it already didn't they?
see how the "essential question" is far superior in a learning context?
not only that the student would think about other things that travel through the air spinning - like a football
