Profiting from investing in innovation is different from profiteering off sick people. These guys ain't Martin "pharma bro" "cockhead" Shkreli. Modern medicine needs science and scientific industry needs massive scale to pay for the highly qualified hours that go into R&D. Sure, a lot of board members are overpaid proportionally to their hours, but that's for others to debate.
I'd love to see pot unconditionally legalised but that in itself wouldn't substitute for a proper MM industry - we need science and statistics to make it happen on a large scale. It just won't happen in this society in this day and age any other way. It would be great if people could legally make potions and lotions and it would reduce illness to some minor extent, but then there is still reason to control human testing for safety and scientific rigour. Hard to believe that this guy actually MADE people sick with weed. Lucky most homemade cannabis treatments won't be so dangerous...
