Sometimes logic prevails. Letting the loan book shrink is better than shrinking NIM. If one does not stop then it becomes a race to the bottom for everyone.
Let's take the MQG result today as a real world example: the NIM is the only shining light on that terrible result. CBA is already proven right (again) in taking this path...
