I can assure you that, as a shareholder, I do NOT have direct ownership of any patients. Probably just as well.
Although I can't speak for Mesoblast Ltd, the corporation may well have ownership of any and all patents arising out of or in connection with work product of CEO Itescu &/or Mr Brown, and I'd expect that to be the case because that's what they signed up for when taking up employment & officeholder responsibilities with the corporation. Here's an extract from the 2023 Annual Report (p. 31) which may assist:
