"The Age" newspaper is at it again......It is a sickening development to see politicians turn on people's superannuation as if it were some kind of piggybank to solve government debt problems. People that have simply followed the rules are now being branded as rich so they can be seen as ripe for picking. The first step is to create jealousy and contempt toward those with "large" super balances, but don't worry about those with multimillion dollar houses that are free of cap gains tax, don't tackle family trusts and negative gearing is just too complicated and their are far too many of them. It's far easier to isolate, flush out and bully a smaller group with large super balances and do it all in the name of fairness. It is the sort of thing I would expect of Robert Mugabe. I would advise anyone considering a superannuation investment to steer clear. Quite obviously, this is not an investment one can trust and who knows what crack pot government we might have in another 30 years time and their excuses for ripping away the benefits.
