My experience tends to support your doubt that a director would make such a market sensitive statement, and sometimes words can be innocently miss understood etc.

Speaking for myself, I find that if a personal call is made to a listed Company Director about the stock he is a Director of, I refrain from publishing the contents of my call to the world anyway, I work on the basis that I would like that director to take my next call too.
