If you want something boring Zinc is where the government hinted some future is. Producers here have sensibly reduced production in response to low prices unlike iron ore companies that kept increasing prod. Some small producers even stopped.
Zinc is used in shipping to keep that over supply of ships from rusting, interestingly silver keeps marine electronics from rusting. Both are also gaining some interest for new applications as well. Although I am skeptical about printing zinc batteries in terms of recycling, it seems a logical step to modernise batteries and produce them like cpus one day.
