I believe it would be more natural to to purchase a $ value of share as apposed to purchasing an x number of shares to make the comparison justifiable. If you purchased $10k of shares at 8 cents you are 50% better off than at 12 cents. Hence your profit margin would always be 50% better off as the price escalates.
