That doesn't contradict anything I've said. Winners are determined by Internet voting by the general public: check - it's a popularity contest, not an indication of scientific merit. And sure, they may be the longest running and largest blog awards, but that's really not saying very much. Ask a bunch of random people if they've ever heard of the Bloggies, and the VAST majority would look at you blankly.
