Interesting how quickly a finding of terrorism has been made.
The reasons given: The individual attended the church allegedly with a knife; There are elements that appear to show “religious motivated extremism”; That the attacks intimidated the public both at the church, through the livestream, and then in the riots after.
By declaring an act of terrorism the police can enact special powers and detain the person in custody for longer without charges as they investigate the background and associates of the offender.
