    True. An inconvenient and disturbing truth.

    All this talk of “we are flattening the curve” and “we are winning the war” is hiding this truth.

    The more the curve is flattened, the longer it will take to clear the virus from the population and the longer we will need to be in lockdown for.

    There are only two ways to stop this pandemic;

    1. Vaccination of most of the world’s population (Unlikely to be an option in the next year, if ever)

    2. Have the disease infect and give natural immunity to most of the world’s population.

    Lockdown strategy is just buying us time and is not doing either of these things to stop the pandemic. If it can suppress cases long enough to develop and implement a vaccine then it may be worthwhile. However, a vaccine for a coronavirus has never been developed before. If we can’t develop a vaccine, or can’t maintain lockdown until it is deployed, then we have gained nothing from the lockdown.
