    When the mining boom ended, well, a few decades earlier than they planned it has basically been two tricks.

    Blow housing with the cheapest debt in Oz history, tax perks, foreign buying etc and when that becomes a bit politically unpalateable revert to ol' faithful; stuff the country with ever more people to increase aggregate demand (helps trick 1 anyway, mind you) and hope the incumbent electorate doesn't recognise the loss in living standards. Problem is now, they do and I think we are running out of tricks. Throw in some rising debt funding costs from overseas and a microscope now on the whole thing with a Royal Commission.
