If greedy corporate bookmakers didn't bet on a (ever-widening) ranges of spot bets this wouldn't be an issue. They make heaps out of the ill-informed punter; if somebody sees an advantage from what they offer, then isn't it just their own (self-induced) misfortune?

If sports betting was wound back to simply betting on the outcome of a game, without all the interactive options, then the advantage (of this arrested 22yo) would be zero.

What should really be evaluated, arising from this episode, is the expansion of sports betting options, not the opportunism that it inspires.

Time to return to conventional sports betting IMO.
