    Hi Scott,

"According to the CDC, the virus can spread person-to-person within 6 feet through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It’s also possible for the virus to remain on a surface or object, be transferred by touch and enter the body through the mouth, nose or eyes.

While the evidence does indicate that COVID-19 spreads via surface transfer or large respiratory droplets within 6 feet of a person coughing or sneezing the following paper in preprint also investigates aerosol transmission (droplet nuclei; ≪101 μm) which can remain airborne over large distances for up to 3 hours between the infected and susceptible. Certainly a troubling thought in a healthcare setting or large gathering but becomes more plausible when considering to date the only proven way to successfully control the spread has been demonstrated by China's aggressive lock-down and isolation measures to containment with the family home.

Aerosol and surface stability of HCoV-19 (SARS-CoV-2) compared to SARS-CoV-1
