Interesting article I've looked through the data it refers to, along with data for previous years on mortality rates in UK.
What it seems to have discovered is that, thanks to the wonderful work of the NHS and the prophylactic effect of social distancing, hygiene, etc, the death rate in the UK during this uncharacteristic year has been kept to just a little bit below 10.16 in a 1000 people, or roughly 1 in a thousand above the previous 10 years. So not even a 10% increase in deaths overall. Not bad considering how it looked at the start of the pandemic (for those of us who believed it was real because we knew people it had affected).
So it seems to be working, if you compare it to say the policy of Brazil, where ICU beds are now apparently 90% full. Regardless of whether these people die of asthma or kidney failure, the fact that they are being tipped over by a viral infection of any kind (call it the flu if it makes you sleep better at night) suggests that maybe the policy of trying to slow it down was timely, if saving lives is your objective.
Of course, we all know that the covid-hoaxers are vehemently pro-life, as demonstrated by their arguments against the vaccine, so it looks like it has been a win for everyone!
