Adelaide Crows midfielder Hugh Greenwood’s touching farewell to mother Andree

Hugh Greenwood’s mother Andree died on Monday but the Crows midfielder said she didn’t lose her battle with cancer — she had beaten it by the way she lived.
Andree, affectionately known as Onny, was diagnosed with secondary terminal breast cancer in 2014 and died in her sleep, surrounded by her family.
Last month she was in the Crows rooms after Adelaide’s preliminary final win over Geelong and shared a special moment with her star son
“When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer, you beat cancer by how you live, why you live.”
Young Port Adelaide forward Todd Marshall is also in mourning after losing his “biggest fan” — his mother Mary — at the weekend.
In a message on Instagram, Marshall, who hails from Deniliquin in NSW’s Riverina district, wrote: “To my biggest fan, you may now rest peacefully. No more struggles. No more pain. I love you Mum, I miss you so much.”
