Too many instances of meathead management with the Andrews government, and too few instances of good management.

No surprises there as meathead management is fun. The head honcho throws his weight around, makes it look as though something is happening, then goes off to a long liquid lunch with a mate to discuss the really important stuff - in this case, branch stacking, factional dominance, who's bonking who etc.

Good management is boring. For instance in this situation you'd have long, detailed risk management meetings designed to predict and prevent bad outcomes. You'd have a section on international travellers in quarantine and how to mitigate the risks of infection. You'd develop protocols for safety, guidelines for behaviour, and backup plans just in case. And implementation plans so that people actually do those things.

You see though? That's boring. You probably nodded off reading that last paragraph. We always tend to think it's the meathead who will be effective, when he says he's going to sort things out even if it means cracking heads. It never works. He's always a dud. But people get sucked in every time. Good managers are boring - but they do get things done.
