TV is not a broker, so whether you use it or not, you still need a broker to execute. You can link TV to a few brokers like IB and Saxo, but that's not a big deal.
Whether you'd say it has advantages over IRESS depends entirely what you want out of a platform. If you have everything you need from IRESS, then there's no need to look elsewhere. What do you want that IRESS doesn't give you?
Iguana Spark is good but ridiculously expensive. The paltform is also counterintuitive, but it does have two great features - depth rewind and order age.
