Don't be shy: grab a fork. You're looking at Genfo (sometimes called Ga'at), a stiff porridge popular in Ethiopia. Made with wheat or barley and moulded into a bowl to contain a dipping sauce. The sauce is mysterious, but seems to involved clarified butter and red capsicum. I'll freely admit I never saw anything like this before.
