Bozz Look closer to where you live 500k can get you a good little apartment but IMO you need to manage the property yourself cashflow is king...set and forget when you can buy with cash (or a minimal deathcontract) as it allows for expansion.
A relative has 15 + properties most in large cities, he was fortunate to loose a bundle of cash trying to trade in 1999 and realised he was better suited (not saying you btw) to other things, namely investing specifically property I reckon he never earnt more than $80k pa in a manual job but is now sitting on between $9- 15 million of property and nearly all of the repayments covered with rent, significant cap gains and a really good cash flow ...
I'm currently (so no disclosure of location ) looking a cheap properties with ok (not brilliant) capital growth but are cash purchases with in excess of 12% yield as a hedge against the market getting smashed by a left field event( Grexit) or a true Middle East war without America... Whilst my returns currently are about 30 fold the bank rate I won't personally be buying too many properties. I forsee a world of pain in my little area of Sydney where people are just surviving but on the surface have all the trappings.
Still think you're a Stoner

Casey Stoner??...
Thanks Mozzo, it wasnt anything for me though, it was just me elaborating on something FiB said way back on page one.. Mind you, it seemed to escalate into a big discussion in the end....One that I've in fact saved the link to for future reading and referrals..
But MoZz, 500K to pay with Ca$h If possible?... *GaSp*.. I'm not a money bagger like some of the folks here!
I spend my money on video games, Bikes, and sheilas who go away after awhile.
