the Uluru statement asks for treaty as the second step in their 3 step program.... we are among the very very few nations that don't have a Treaty with First Nations people.
States are also introducing a Voice to their parliaments and developing Treaties this is true and necessary. it's only being instituted into the federal constitution though as a permanent fixture. imo states should also take this important step..... but thats just imo, so turn th page.
Albanese is committed to the full introduction of the Uluru statement program. I believe this to be the right way, each to their own opinion with respect. So Treaty will come, but it's not ready to be debated as the Voice is the first matter.... and in due process, each step needs to be completed before the next step is taken.
Makarata will follow Treaty. Truth telling enabled a lot of healing for many First Nations people, in the US, Canada, Sth Africa and many other nations.
we won't like makarata, as it'll explore the relatively untold history of our colonisation impacts through to the current time.
