The old testament was filled with God leading or trying to lead Isreal or the Hebrews into the correct concept of who and what denotes .,who and what God is etc and his plan of salvation.
The opposing view needs to stiffle these concepts and try to get rid of them.
This is done by controlling the heirachy of society, same as today
The message of the new testament is the same, God trying to reveal his true character to the world, which has been purposely bastardised through false conceptions and practices.
Jesus came to reveal Gods character to the world.His main opposition was the religous leaders of the day, whom come hell or high water were going to defend as Jesus said their false practices and incorrect concepts of God.
These arguments happened all through ot and nt , these were taken part in by Jesus and his disciples and apostles.
Teaching that Jesus was the son of God, this was the whole argument, and Jesus himself said this was the foundation of Christianity Math 16.16.

People still this day are filthy on anyone who says Jesus was who he says he was.
Only Wotsup and myself on this forum are the only believers that Jesus is who he said he was, everyone else dissagrees.This is not a new argument, its been happening for thousands of years.
Jesus actually commanded his followers to teach this message, so to dismiss it as yourself and Coppo do , just saying people just believe as they were taught isnt correct.
If no one went around teaching Jesus is the son of God, there would not have been so many followers of Christ who heard the message and changed their view on what the religous leaders had taught them, same happened in the dark ages, when the truth about Jesus came, people turned on the religous leaders once they knew the truth.
