"Trinitarians cling to this verse so hard because they think it suits their theology or fits what their particular denomination teaches them.But the context snookers them when used with all the other verses on the same subject" Just part of human nature, in my opinion. We have a bias towards thinking in terms of what we think are the most likely explanations of reality.
We seem to have an ability to live with cognitive dissonance which is probably just as well in a world in which reality seems to be marked by contradictory tenants even if the contradictions are the result of the workings of our minds rather than of reality itself.
