I say this is as someone who has generally favorable views of Dutton....
The move seems premature and really does seem to be showboating. He's facing 7-15 years in Turkish prison - and I can't imagine the prison system there is as a nice as the Australian one. Whilst I don't disapprove of renouncing the citizenship, it would be more tactical to wait and see how the court proceedings work out and revoke citizenship if/when it looks like he's able to return to Australia.
