ebola getting out of Africa has been a nightmare scenario for a long time.
OMG can you imagine if it did?
You could say goodbye to a lot of industries overnight ------ Airlines for one and anywhere that people spend money when they get off planes.
And all you would need would be a couple of cases -- Paris for a start and then one or two that came through any hubs connecting with Paris ------ my guess is the world would pretty much shut down - at least for a while.
And, if per chance the nightmare did happen and we got numbers of cases going in different countries - that shut down would pretty much be complete for long enough to break businesses - let alone the poor buggers who would be dead.
In that scenario - short airlines, long whoever makes that jelly stuff your put on your hands to kill stuff and bugger off on a very remote holiday in the boon docks of Australia.
And don't bet that we could contain this even in first world countries ----- Swine flu proved beyond all shadow of doubt that we have pretty much zero control - we like to think we have, but, the reality is - we have very little.
