The Hybrids are also a good option- a mechanic friend reports that maintenance on those is way less than a traditional car.
Battery tech is only going to get better and cheaper.
I'm planning to drive my car to 500,000km probably 15 years? At todays rates that's about $15000 electricity (+ road users)
I've done 30,000km and no service required yet, I'll keep track of it though.
My tyres hardly seem worn 1/3 maybe?
Great safety features.... might be a pain if I crashed it though?? Not planning to though.
