"what's with the avatar?
you do realise that Carl Sagan said,
Atheism is very stupid." - Carl Sagan"
The quote is actually - "By some definitions atheism is very stupid." - This is quite a bit different from "Atheism is very stupid" as it's not the entirety of what he said or thought on the subject.

However, as I've stated numerous times on HC, I'm Agnostic to the Atheistic end of the scale (similar to Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, deGrasse Tyson etc). I'm not against people believing in a God/Gods, but to state that God absolutely exists is incorrect. "Faith" is a far more accurate word to us given the current absence of evidence. I am the first to admit that you can't disprove the existence of any particular God. And if there was absolute proof that He/She/They or it did exist, then I would accept it. But this is clearly not the case now as there is no evidence that He/She/They or it exists or existed.
Science requires rigorous experimental testing and retesting of evidence, countless trials and studies, but somehow religion is able to get away with not having to present the same kind of (publicly verifiable) evidence to "prove" the existence of God as a fact. Bible verses don't count (as they seem to pass as evidence on this forum). Science has theories, gaps, and unanswered questions. But it also has many centuries of experimental evidence to back up many of these previous theories, gaps, etc. Science clearly can't answer everything, but it doesn't mean that "God did it" or that "Science is wrong". Science is often wrong, but it tries its best to accurately understand the world and universe.
I think I've given a pretty fair view without offence (I hope). People are free to have faith, but please don't pass of belief as fact given the current evidence.
Peace and all that Jazz.
