yes as long as the Soul is attached to the body the life force act as you say to maintain the body functions . Because you can't see the soul presence near by , as long as the heart beats the soul is absorbing the events around body and the thoughts of those attending , religions are designed to impart a knowledge of the Spiritual essence within ,but generally lack the deeper experience of the Soul , awakening due to the senses externalizing the Egos attention , The average human calls out to God spontaneously in moments of stress , or for Jesus's sake , why what lurks in the minds of many atheist's ..
