Hubby and I ventured down to Brisbane last Thursday to look after our 2 grand-daughters for the day. The eldest started school this year and Pa picked her up from school. He admired her artwork, a painting of red flowers. Which led to a few questions he began to worry about - have you been to war Pa? (no) Have you seen any real soldiers? (yes) Have you got a gun? (yes) Why? (it is my great grandfather's who fought in a war). What did the soldier's do exactly? (some panic by now). Before any words emerged, she answered her own question with "I know Pa, they planted all the beautiful poppies". Pa just nodded in agreement.
